Midstate man suffering from incurable disease that health experts say is on the rise

Molly Sleigh with Coliseum Health has worked with Lymphedema patients for over 20 years and said issues can worsen if it’s not caught early.

“Fat volume can continue to increase as the limb can get heavier and heavier and that’s typically what causes the pain,” Sleigh said.

She also highlighted a particular concern, saying that health experts “have seen a rise in head and neck Lymphedema.”

Greene said dealing with this incurable disease isn’t the worst thing. “We all have something to deal with and if this is it, I’m quite satisfied. I mean it doesn’t bother me, it’s just an adjustment,” he said.

Coliseum Health is holding a “What You Need to Know” class about Lymphedema on Tuesday, March 12 from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. in the first floor conference room at 420 Charter Blvd. in downtown Macon.
